The inaugural 2021 RisingStories International Story Pitching Competition which was co-launched by Studio76 Taiwan and MediaCorp Singapore attracted over 550 entries from all over the world, including China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan and the United States. “The goal of the upcoming 2023 RisingStories International Story Pitching Competition is to discover and develop outstanding original stories from global scriptwriters, and to introduce original script writing talents from Asia in writing for film and television productions and the ability to collaborate across borders”, stated Mr. Dennis Yang, the CEO and Managing Partner of Studio76 Original Productions from Taiwan.
The first four winning stories in the 2021 event, Stranger In The Dark, Fix Your Life, Money On Fire and Newlyweds of 40 Years, are outstanding stories in different genres across suspense, crime and comedy. Among them, Money On Fire and Newlyweds of 40 Years are now developed into full production scripts by Studio76 and Money On Fire has received overwhelming responses at the 2022 Golden Horse Pitching Session which has taken place in Taipei in mid-Nov 2022.

2023 RisingStories International Story Pitching Competition gathers professionals in the film and television industry, and invites actors James Wen Shenghao, actress Hong Huifang, producer Angie Chai, director Lester Hsi, screenwriter Lyra Fu, screenwriter Chihchi Fan, producer Alain Hao to establish a professional jury team. This year's event will be expanded, and Chinese and English works are open for registration. Aiming at finding the unearthed original stories in Asia, RisingStories is tasked to call out to all screenwriting talents, as well as the potential film and television productions of international collaborations. The Top 50 and Top 10 finalists will be notified by the organiser in emails, the Top 10 finalists will be announced on the official website in June 2023.
All finalists are obligated to sign and agree to the "Regulatory and Obligatory Agreement" and related copyrights waiver document which will be provided in emails sent by the organiser (failure to sign is deemed to be a waiver, which will be replaced by another candidate).
The Top 10 finalists have to participate the pitching workshop and attend the pitching session in person or online.
The ten finalists are all required to participate in the " RisingStories International Pitching" in July. Each will present his/her stories with a pitch proposal and take questions from the judges in person or live online. The three finalists will be announced at the award ceremony on the same day.
In June 2023, 10 finalists for Chinese stories and 10 finalists for English stories will be selected respectively, a pitching and awards ceremony will be held in Taipei in July 2023 with the three winning stories to be announced.
The 3 winning stories will receive an official script development agreement with an advance payment of USD$3,250 to develop the stories into full production scripts.
The payment will be made after the script development contract is signed.
All submissions must guarantee that the copyrights of the submitting works is fully owned by the entrant. If there is any dispute over its copyrights, the entrant has to resolve the dispute before entering Top 50 selections. the organiser has full rights to reject the submissions with stories in copyrights dispute.
It is necessary to ensure that the submitting stories have not been officially commercially published. The organiser has full authority, in any stage of the event, to reject the submissions, retrieve the awards and advance payment, and to pursue related damages and legal liability.
If the project is jointly created by multiple writers, it is necessary to fill in the introduction and contact info of all writers in the registration form, and assign one person as the main contact, and each person must all agree to the registration rules. If the project is selected, all co-writers must agree and sign on the same documents.
After the registration is completed the entrants are deemed to agree to agree to the organiser's attempt in collecting and sharing of the personal information to related parties. Te organiser has the right to modify at any time and publish the partial personal information on the official website and related social media.
