Through the film-making experience of director Lester Hsi, this talk will share relevant experiences and methods from the planning and production process to cross-border collaborations. ⁠A Collaboration of Creatives

Based on the foundation of a screenplay, how to utilise directorial techniques and actor performances to make the story more complete, and to bring out the drama's story and characters to present them fully to the audience. Director Ong Kuo-Sin and actress Hong Hui-Fang will share how to transform a story into a visual work of art from the perspectives of a director and an actor.

The Business of Writing

You have a concept that a producer or production company is interested in bringing to the screen…now what? The panel will discuss the process of engagement between creators of IP and international producers and content distributors. Also, discover how the winning entries in the previous edition of RisingStories went from script to screen.

Samm has produced eight feature films, all of which received red carpet premieres at award festivals like Cannes, Venice, Toronto and Sundance. He is currently Head of Film at New York-based finance house ViewPark and delivers story consultancy, mentoring and training through several industry leading bodies.

Panelist

Huifang is a familiar face on Singapore television and has received numerous acting nominations and wins throughout her 40-year career. Recently, she won Best Actress at the 8th Asian World Film Festival in Los Angeles and was nominated in the Golden Horse Awards for her performance in the Korea-Singapore film Ajooma.

Kuo Sin has worked in a diverse range of genres and mediums, from documentaries to scripted drama to feature films in the course of his over 20-year career. His feature film, Number One 男儿王 won the Golden Horse Award for Best Makeup and Costume Design. He is currently working on Mediacorp’s longform drama Sunny Side Up.
